Huibert Moor, singer / songwriter and double bass player ,  was  born in ’72.
His interest in 50’s music was sparked at the age of nine when he heard his father playing Elvis’ records.  Huib was sold!
Shortly after that, he started appearing in various ‘playback shows’ and even appeared on a TV show –dedicated to his hero, Elvis.
His musical  interests continued growing, particularly when he discovered the 40's and 50's country music.

Right from the start, Huib was fascinated by the sound of the double bass.
Finally, in 1996 the opportunity  arose for him to buy his first double bass.
A good friend with nimble fingers and plenty of know-how showed him the way around the fingerboard.
These early lessons combined with plenty of listening to his favourite music helped, him improve his sound.

The influences of artists like Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Carl Perkins and of course Wayne ‘The Train’ Hancock can be heard filtering through Huib’s playing and singing.
Huib's early adventuers in playbackshows eventually made way for actual singing performances.
In 1998 Huib formed the Hillbilly Stringpickers and the rest, as the say, is History!

Art Willems plays the lead guitar, fiddle and sings backing vocals.
Art's interest in music began when he started taking music lessons at the age of five. Initially, Art chose to play the violin, but at fifteen, he discovered the guitar and the violin was stowed away safely in a cupboard somewhere.
Fortunately for The Hillbilly Stringpickers, Art rediscovered it some years later, and he once again began developing his skills as a fiddle player alongside his guitar playing.
Through the years, Art has worked with many musical styles, like the blues, rock, reggae and American Roots Music from the 50's.
The rich complexities of jazz have always been his favourite areas of study.

'My favourite music,' says Art, 'is the old swing and rockabilly music, played without a drummer and, of course, Honky Tonk.
A large part of our repertoire is made up of these two styles.
Back to the roots - that sums up our music and that's why the guitar/fiddle combination is just right.'

Latest member of the band is Richard Hoekstra

I started playing music with a rockabilly trio and then after a while I started looking for something new.

Soon I became the leadguitarist in one of Europe's best western swing bands: the Ranch House Favorites!

After playing that for nine years now, I was asked to fill up the space left by the former guitarist, at the Hillbilly Stringpickers, a band of a good friend of mine, Huey Moor.

It's just Slap bass, fiddle and guitar for the basic hillbilly and original rockabilly style, but it's really great too!
